Eurasia Federation, in solidarity with Agrompleks Union, had organized an educational seminar for workers at Prizren from 12th to 15th June of 2009.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Engin UNSAL, from Maletepe University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sayim Yorgun, from Kocaeli University, Haxhi Arifi, President of Confederation of Trade Unions of Kosovo and Ismalaya Myftar, Chairman os SPLIT Union, were lecturers.
Delegation from TOLEYIS, TEKGIDA-ISH, which are Turkish unions, Split Union Albania, PPDIVUT and Trade Union of Agricultural, food and tobacco industries, forest and water resources and union of tourism and catering of Montenegro had actively participated to seminar.
At the opening ceremony of the meeting Mr. Alush Hoti, President of Agrokomplex Union of Kosovo, and Mr. Haxhi Arifi, President of Trade Union Confederation of Kosovo, welcomed attendees of seminar. They specially welcomed the President of Eurasian federation Cemail Bakindi, who pointed out the satisfaction from maintenance of activities of the Federation and stressed the need deepen joint cooperation in the struggle to overcome the consequences of economic crisis. Mr. Sayim Yorgun presented the theme ´´Impact of economic crisis on trade unions and alternative solutions.´´ where Asst. Prof. Dr. Engin Unsal talked about privatization and the violation of trade union freedom, specifically stressing to privatization process which was carried out in Turkey.
Haxhi Arifi - President of trade union confederation of Kosovo spoke about the privatization process in Kosovo and its consequences. He emphasized that the privatization in Kosovo was lame, because of the lack of legislation and social dialogue. From a total of 24 companies that were privatized, only three companies still work, while others changed their field or are completely missing.
Ismalaya Myftar - President of the Trade Unions of Albania presented the interesting experience of the privatization process in Albania, its consequences, as well as the role of trade unions in this process.
